Lithium upgrade

Retrofit your existing rig from lead-acid or AGM to LiFePO4 — the most-requested service.

This is the most-requested service we offer, and for good reason — it's usually the single biggest upgrade you can make to an existing rig. Three to four times the usable capacity at roughly the same installed size, five times the cycle life, half the weight, and properly sized it charges faster from every source (solar, alternator, shore, genset).

What a lithium upgrade actually includes

  • Remove existing lead-acid or AGM battery bank
  • Install new LiFePO4 bank (we build custom in-house — Nomad Energy Systems — or install drop-in brands like Battle Born, Victron LFP, Lion)
  • Upgrade or verify the charge sources:
    • Inverter/charger lithium profile (most Victron, Magnum, Go Power units support this)
    • DC-DC charger if you don't have one (essential for alternator charging)
    • MPPT controller (if your existing one doesn't support lithium profiles)
  • Add a SmartShunt or Cerbo-based monitoring (you'll want to see what your new bank is doing)
  • Update fusing — lithium draws differently than AGM and Class-T fuses are often required

What it won't do

A lithium upgrade won't rescue a poorly sized solar array — if your existing panels aren't generating enough, you'll just have a bigger bank that drains more slowly. We'll tell you if you need solar capacity in addition to the battery upgrade, not instead.

What a typical upgrade costs

Labor 1–2 days depending on access. Hardware varies dramatically — a drop-in 200 Ah Battle Born is about $2,000; a custom 400 Ah Nomad Energy Systems bank is $3,500–$4,500 depending on form factor and BMS features. We quote specifically after seeing your rig.
